HDR completed an integrated design-build groundwater treatment construction system
HDR recently completed an integrated design-build contract with American Pacific Corporation (AMPAC) to construct a groundwater treatment system at the existing AMPAC facility in Henderson, Nevada. Previously, AMPAC operated a groundwater treatment system to remove perchlorate. The project modified and expanded the existing facilities using a fluidized bed reactor (FBR) system. The process equipment was supplied by Envirogen Technologies under a contract directly with AMPAC, with HDR Engineering (HDRE) providing balance of plant engineering services to HDRC, including modeling of the entire facility in BIM. The FBR system is sized to reduce up to 230 parts per million (ppm) of perchlorate (up from 130 ppm) in the groundwater to non-detect levels (per EPA Method 314.0), as well as the oxygen, chlorate and nitrate in a flow of up to 800 gallons per minute (GPM).
