Gordon Cable, DBIA

Gordon Cable is the National Design-Build Manager for Ferguson Waterworks. With over 37 years of experience in the construction industry, Gordon brings a wealth of first-hand knowledge to the collaborative design-build industry. Working his way up from the construction crew building utility and ocean projects in his native England to project manager on water and sewer line, pump station, and water and wastewater plant construction in the U.S., Gordon has had his hands in every facet of the industry up and down the East and West Coasts.

As president of C&V Utilities, Cable was responsible for estimating, scheduling, purchasing and managing multi-million-dollar water and wastewater treatment plant projects in VA and NC. After joining Ferguson in 2006 as a plant division estimator, he continued his field experience and helped grow their plant presence to be the foremost plant team on the West Coast and developed training modules that estimators can use to understand the biological and chemical processes and flows that make up a plant. Now responsible for all of the project managers in Pineville, NC, Gordon encourages collaboration among them, as well as among the many national vendors and contractors he has formed lasting relationships with based on mutual trust. With his experience working in water and wastewater plants at all levels, he is able to offer insight and value engineering that helps owners and engineers to achieve their goals, such as meeting permitting targets, staying within budget, and navigating process design changes. Gordon was one of the many pioneers of the collaborative design-build mindset even before the term was part of the industry’s lexicon.
