Boise White Paper Aquifer Storage and Recovery (WA)

Project components:

Under an integrated design-build delivery contract, HDR professional services for this project included: water quality testing; ASR feasibility study; regulatory coordination and permitting; design; construction; and startup. The ASR stores treated river water in an aquifer during the winter and recover the stored water in the summer. The intent is to take advantage of the water temperature when river temperatures are low and flows are high, and retrieve this cool water for use as plant cooling water during the summer, when river water temperatures are higher and water flows are lower. The ASR is designed to supply the plant with 3 MGD of cool stored water during the summer months, which will displace the use of 5 MGD of warmer river water.
