Norumbega Reservoir Storage Facility (MA)

Greater Boston’s Water Storage Facility Upgraded

AECOM served as the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority‘s (MWRA’s) design engineer for a 115-million gallon covered storage facility at the Norumbega Reservoir in Weston, MA.  As major subconsultant to the Norumbega Constructors joint venture, AECOM provided design, permitting, engineering services during construction, and operations and maintenance services for the design-build project, as well as quality assurance, field engineering, start-up, environmental compliance, public participation, stormwater controls, and wetlands mitigation.

A crucial part in the MWRA’s rehabilitation of the system that conveys treated drinking water to Greater Boston, the storage facility was timed to coincide with the completion of the John J. Carroll (Walnut Hill) treatment plant and the new MetroWest water supply tunnel.
